There are also several traffic studies that are the basis for further development with markings and a route that is also on the app that our cyclists can download and ride on our trails. ” In the Vukovar-Srijem parish, a new cycling off-road route “Put vinograd” was presented, which stretches for about 30 kilometers through nature and vineyards from Vukovar to Šarengrad. Cover photo: LAG Bosutski niz / FB Tourist Board of Vukovar-Srijem County Budimir points out that there are more plans for the development of cycling tourism in Vukovar-Srijem County, which is an integral part of continental tourism. “Among other things, in the study we marked one route which, in addition to being cycling, is also a walking and equestrian route, and is located in the area of Cvelferija. We hope that with this improvement we will be able to offer our cyclists more and show the beauties of our county. We would like to continue with projects related to the development of cycling tourism because that is where we see the future. An interesting fact is that ordinary tourists spend about 15 EUR per day, while cyclists spend about 50 EUR per day. Also, data from 2013 show that there are close to 60 million cyclists in Europe who travel around Europe in this form of tourism. So, that tourism is something that is still in development, one of the newer branches of tourism. We think that our country is very suitable for this form of tourism, not only because of nature but also because of the entire offer that includes gastronomic and cultural offer. Our county is rich in numerous events and sights. We have something to show!”Budimir concluded. This year, 5 smart rest areas (Vrbanja, Privlaka, Drenovci, Nuštar and Županja), 3 rest areas for cyclists (Vukovar, Ilok, Šumanovci), a bicycle traffic counter in Ilok and a lookout point in Šarengrad have been set up in Vukovar-Srijem County. traffic study for future bicycle routes in the area of Vukovar and Cvelferija, and a new off road route was marked “Vineyard Road”,.   Head of Tourism of Vukovar-Srijem County, Marija Budimir she pointed out that the entire route leads through nature, through vineyards, through family farms (OPG) and near the Museum of Vučedol Culture. “As the road to Ilok is quite dangerous, the traffic is heavy, trucks drive and it is not very suitable for cyclists, we came up with the idea to create an off-road route in cooperation with the Coordination Body for the Development of Croatian Cycling Tourism, and that is this route “Put vineyard “which passes by our Museum of Vučedol culture and leads all the way to Šarengrad.” The Vukovar-Srijem County is crossed by the EuroVelo 6 route, and in addition to the newly mentioned route, the county also has the “Danube” cycling route as well as the “Srijem” route. “The “EuroVelo 6” route is our most important route because cyclists from abroad come to us via this route. We expect local routes to be used by cyclists who come on weekends on a daily basis and these are our tourists, for example from Osijek, from Zagreb. These routes are not only for cyclists coming from Europe, but also for our local population. “last_img
