Cabrini has nothing but respect for the iconic duo following their impressive achievements, yet feels the Juventus ace’s leadership exploits put him ahead of his eternal rival.”Ronaldo is probably the best player in the world,” Cabrini told reporters including Goal at a Betfair event at Allianz Stadium.”Obviously the focus in football over the last 10 years has been on the rivalry between Messi and Ronaldo.  “My personal opinion is that Ronaldo is better than Messi, but mainly in terms of leadership. Ronaldo has proven himself to be a real leader on a lot of occasions and not just on the pitch. He is a leader in his life as well as in sports.”So with all due respect to Messi, there have been a few instances in his career that he came up short.”That being said, we are speaking about two great players, I think we can all agree on that.”Although Ronaldo was unable to deliver Champions League glory in 2018-19, Juventus did manage to clinch their eighth consecutive Serie A title and Cabrini believes they are on another level than all their domestic rivals.”Whether it’s the transfer market or commercial activities, Juventus always plan ahead,” Cabrini added.”That’s the reason they are ahead of their rivals. When the other Italian teams start their transfer activity, Juventus have already completed the two or three key men they wanted to in that window.”Another example is that Juventus are the first big team in Italy to own its own stadium. They all speak about it but nobody else has started to build their own home.”As official betting partner of Juventus, Betfair invited fans from the UK and Italy to play in a tournament at the Allianz stadium. The UK fans won a place on the trip by testing their Juve knowledge in a quiz named ‘beat the elite’ where they had to better the score of the Juventus players to qualify.last_img read more

Match Preview Arsenal celebrating 2019Unai Emery’s second season with Arsenal begins in earnest with a trip to Newcastle in the Premier League on Sunday. The Gunners had a satisfactory first campaign with the former Paris Saint-Germain boss in charge, though they missed out on the Champions League, something they will be eager to rectify between now and May.While the summer addition of Nicolas Pepe seemed to set the Emirates side up for a thrilling all-out-attack approach this season, Emery subsequently moved to secure the signings of defenders David Luiz and Kieran Tierney over the final hours of the transfer window, suggesting that some effort will be made to shore up an area that has long been considered an Achilles heel for the team. With both ends of the field strengthened, the Gunners will hope to return to Europe’s top table in little over 12 months, having narrowly missed out last time around by finishing fifth in the league last term and failing to overcome Chelsea in the Europa League final.“Our ambition is to do the best possible in the all the competitions, the most important of these is the Premier League,” Emery said. “Our first target is to be in the top four, we reduced the distance last season. Manchester City and Liverpool are stronger than the others at the beginning. “We want to compete with them and reduced the points gap. Tottenham, Manchester United and Chelsea have the same objectives. “Last year the difference was really small and the challenge now is for us to achieve a top-four finish.“Other teams are coming back, signing new players and working very well. The Premier League is the best competition in the world. We are going to work to compete and get into the top four.”Newcastle, meanwhile, are coming off the back of a complicated summer that saw Rafael Benitez depart at the end of his contract. While speculation whirled for weeks, it was ultimately Steve Bruce who was the man anointed to replace the ex Real Madrid boss. There has been scepticism over the appointment, but the Magpies turned in a strong display against Saint-Etienne in a friendly victory last weekend.“Hopefully, I’ll win those supporters who are still in doubt over,” Bruce said on Friday. “Over a period of time, hopefully, I’ll get that sort of respect they have for Rafa. Deep down I know the fans will get behind the team. You can feel a little mood swing already.”A positive result against the Gunners would only hasten that progress. Frost’s offense is starting to put up some serious points and the defense has looked decent today.Unfortunately for Frost and Co., they are probably catching Ohio State at the worst possible time. However, after skipping his team’s bowl game and struggling during practice sessions at it appears his stock is falling. On Saturday afternoon, Grier was on the field once again for the Senior Bowl and he struggled to find a rhythm in the early going. While those two states produce a large amount of talent, there are schools on the other side of the spectrum. In fact, 12 states did not produce a single blue chip recruit.Alaska, Idaho, Maine, Massachusetts, Montana, New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Dakota, South Dakota, Vermont, Wisconsin and Wyoming all did not have a four or five star recruit from their ranks.California, Texas, Georgia and Florida combine for 47.5-percent of the country’s blue chip recruits. Purdue won 44-21. (Photo by Joe Robbins/Getty Images)Tario Fuller was the likely starter at running back for Purdue heading into fall. He’s dealt with injuries throughout his career, which began back in 2015, and another has apparently reared its ugly head. The fifth-year senior has 67 rushes through three seasons with Purdue. His 82 total touches for 458 yards and two touchdowns make him the most experienced option at the position for Jeff Brohm this fall.Unfortunately, he went down once again today, during the Boilermakers’ scrimmage. It is unclear the nature or extent of his injury, but Brohm called it “significant.”From the Journal & Courier:Coach Jeff Brohm said fifth-year running back Tario Fuller sustained a “significant” injury during the scrimmage, which began outside but was moved indoors because of threatening weather. Brohm said the injury happened during a special teams period. The loss of Fuller, who is battling with Zander Horvath for the No. 1 spot, would impact the offense and remove a player from the lineup who has shown explosiveness and big-play ability.“Tario got hurt today and we’ll see the extent of it. He may be out a while,” Brohm said. “It makes that position thinner and makes the young freshmen have to step in and play.”Horvath, a redshirt sophomore, got a bit of action for the first time last season. He carried the ball nine times for 42 yards and a touchdown, and caught four passes for 38 yards. The other options at the position are freshmen Da’Joun Hewitt and King Doerue, and walk-on Alfred Armour.Fuller has had surgeries on his ankle, to repair a torn labrum, and on a sports hernia between 2017 and 2018. He’s played in just 13 games in three years as an active member of Purdue’s program. Hopefully, this injury isn’t as serious as it seems, and he can get back this season.[Journal & Courier]last_img read more
