first_img 256 Views   2 comments LocalNews $30, 000 bail granted to accused in McMillan’s Filling Station robbery incident by: – November 7, 2011 Tweet Share Sharing is caring!center_img Share Share Elio Edwards at the front, Leon Toussaint and Telford Kerry Ursan George being escorted from the Magistrate’s Court last week.Telford Kerry Ursan George of Stockfarm was this morning granted $30, 000.00 bail for his alleged involvement in the robbery incident at the McMillan’s Filling Station last month.Proprietor of McMillan’s Filling Station McMillan Jno Baptiste reported to the media that three masked men armed with guns entered the premises of his establishment at about 8pm on 20th October, 2011 and threatened the female cashier, took cash from the draw and ran away.The accused along with Leon Toussaint and Elio Edwards appeared before Magistrate Ossie Lewis on Friday 28th October, 2011 and were told that bail would be revisited on the 7th of November, 201. Police Prosecutor Inspector Michael Laudat informed the magistrate that the investigating officers had not yet concluded their investigations and feared that the accused would impede said investigation.At this morning’s hearing; Inspector Laudat informed the Court that he has no objection to bail as long as the accused provides a proper surety and abides to special bail conditions.Bail was granted by Magistrate Ossie Lewis in the sum of $30, 000.00.Telford George, father of the accused Telford Kerry Ursan George, who has been a public officer for the last 12 years and presently employed at the Central Medical Store at the Princess Margaret Hospital stood as surety for the accused.Mr George told the Court that he has control over his son, will ensure that he attends Court on the dates and times stipulated.Magistrate Lewis warned the accused that he is to surrender his travel documents to the Police, report every Monday, Wednesday and Friday between the hours of 6am to 7pm at the Roseau Police Headquarters, that he must notify the police of any changes in his address, he should not interfere with any of the witnesses and also imposed a curfew of 8pm to 6am daily.In related news, Leon Toussaint was denied bail until tomorrow morning as his mother Rosemarie Toussaint who is his surety on a previous matter was found unsuitable by the Court, because it was revealed that she did not have sufficient control over him to ensure that he adheres to the reporting conditions of his bail.Mrs Toussaint who stood as surety for the accused on a previous matter, in which the Police Prosecutor Inspector Laudat informed the Court that the accused had not been reporting as stipulated. Bail was opened to Elio Edwards but he told the Court that Rosemarie Toussaint, the mother of Leon Toussaint, is also his surety.
