Australias first carbon reduction airport

first_imgSunshine Coast Airport (SCA) has been presented with its official Certificate of Accreditation under the Airport Carbon Accreditation programme at Level 2 Reduction.The airport was internationally recognised recently for managing its carbon emissions and reducing its carbon footprint under the programme.ACI Asia-Pacific President Dennis Chant said:“I wish to congratulate Sunshine Coast Airport on being Australia’s first accredited airport at Reduction Level under Airport Carbon Accreditation, Mr Chant said.“This is a demonstration of the airport’s willingness to go the extra mile and its commitment to operating the airport in an environmentally sustainable manner, which is crucial for the long-term development of our industry.”After achieving Level 1 Mapping in 2013 and Level 2 Reduction in 2014, this is a step towards achieving Neutrality, the fourth level of accreditation.Airport general manager Peter Pallot said: “We have more work to do, but the airport is now well on its way in the journey towards carbon neutrality.”SCA has joined the likes of London, Dublin, Prague, and Macau International Airports, in being certified at Level 2.Currently, 109 airports are bestowed with this honour.
